Built for Süleyman the Magnificent by the architect Sinan between 1550 and 1557, the Süleymaniye is a working mosque and free to enter; it closes to visitors during the five daily prayers. Dress modestly, and women cover their hair. Don't miss the garden terrace behind the mosque, which looks over the Golden Horn, or Sinan's own tomb at the edge of the complex.
