Arriving in Istanbul

From the Airport to Sirkeci Without a Taxi

Both of Istanbul's airports are linked to Sirkeci by rail, and Sirkeci station is about 50 m from Hotel Marius. Most guests reach us in 70 to 90 minutes. The times below are typical journeys, including changes.

From Istanbul Airport (IST)

The M11 airport metro leaves from the station inside the terminal — follow the Metro signs from arrivals.

about 80 min

By metro and Marmaray — one change

Take the M11 towards Halkalı (about 30 minutes). At Halkalı, change to Marmaray towards Gebze and stay on to Sirkeci (about 33 minutes). The simplest rail route, with only one change.

about 70 min

By metro — the quickest rail route

Take the M11 towards Gayrettepe (about 30 minutes), then the M2 towards Yenikapı (about 15 minutes), then Marmaray one stop to Sirkeci (3 minutes). Two changes; the one at Yenikapı is a long walk between platforms.

80–100 min

By Havaist bus — no changes, day and night

The Havaist airport bus on the Sultanahmet line runs around the clock and stops at Eminönü Pier, about 8 minutes' walk from the hotel. Pay on board with a bank card or İstanbulkart. Journey time depends on traffic.

45–75 min

Taxi or private transfer

Take a taxi from the official rank or book one with the BiTaksi app, and make sure the meter is running. If you would rather be met at arrivals, we can arrange a private transfer — send us your flight number on WhatsApp.

From Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW)

Sabiha Gökçen is on the Asian side; the M4 metro station is at the terminal.

about 70 min

By metro and Marmaray — one change

Take the M4 towards Kadıköy and get off at Ayrılık Çeşmesi (about 50 minutes). Change to Marmaray towards Halkalı: it runs under the Bosphorus and reaches Sirkeci in about 8 minutes.

After midnight

The M4 runs from about 06:00 until midnight. After that, Havabus airport buses leave for Kadıköy and Taksim after late arrivals; from Kadıköy a taxi to Sirkeci takes about 30 minutes. Or ask us for a private transfer.

Paying for the metro and Marmaray

Contactless bank cards work at the ticket gates of the metro, Marmaray, trams and ferries, but each ride costs more than with an İstanbulkart.

Staying a few days? Buy an İstanbulkart from the machines at the station and top it up with cash or card. One card can be tapped for several people travelling together.

Good to know

Metro and Marmaray trains run from about 06:00 until around midnight; on Friday and Saturday nights Marmaray and some metro lines run later. If you land after 23:00, check the last train or take the Havaist bus.

Sirkeci is one of the deepest stations in Istanbul. Two of its four exits have lifts — useful with heavy luggage.

Hotel Marius is on Orhaniye Avenue, about 50 m from Sirkeci station. Send us a WhatsApp message when you land and we will send you a map pin.
