Before you go
The present bridge, opened in 1994, crosses the Golden Horn from Eminönü to Karaköy. The T1 tram and road traffic run on the upper deck, where anglers line the railings; restaurants and cafés fill the lower level. Walk across for the classic view back to the New Mosque and the Süleymaniye on the skyline; on the far side, Karaköy's cafés and the uphill streets to the Galata Tower begin.
