The walk from the hotel
Follow the T1 tram line uphill to the Gülhane stop and go in through the main gate of Gülhane Park; the cobbled Osman Hamdi Bey Yokuşu climbs through the park to the museum gate, just below the first courtyard of Topkapı Palace.

Before you go
One ticket covers three buildings: the Archaeology Museum, the Museum of the Ancient Orient and the Tiled Kiosk. Parts of the main building have been under a long restoration, but the sculpture halls with the Alexander Sarcophagus have stayed open — check the official site for what is open on the day. It pairs easily with Topkapı Palace next door, and it is usually much quieter.
