Before you go

Gülhane was the outer garden of Topkapı Palace and opened to the public as a park in 1912. Its tree-lined paths run downhill to the Column of the Goths, a Roman-era monument, and on towards the Bosphorus end of the park. In April it is one of the city's main tulip gardens. The Istanbul Archaeological Museums stand in its upper grounds, on the way up to Topkapı Palace.
