Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February and end on 8 March, followed by the three-day Eid al-Fitr holiday (Ramazan Bayramı) from 9 to 11 March, according to the calendar of Türkiye's Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). The dates follow the lunar calendar and may shift by a day.

Where to stay
In recent years Fatih Municipality has marked Ramadan on Sultanahmet Square with communal iftar tables and the traditional cannon shot at sunset, and Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Süleymaniye are at their most atmospheric after dark. Hotel Marius is about 10 minutes on foot from Sultanahmet Square. Sights and most restaurants stay open during Ramadan; mosques close to visitors at prayer times, and the evening prayer draws big crowds. Over Eid, Turkish families travel too — book early. During Ramadan we prepare a sahur (pre-dawn meal) pack on request — tell us when you book or message the front desk on WhatsApp at +90 530 333 51 61. For tarawih prayers, the New Mosque is about 5 minutes on foot from the hotel, the Rüstem Pasha Mosque about 6, and the Süleymaniye and the Blue Mosque about 10. On the first day of Eid, museums run by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism open only from 13:00, and the Grand Bazaar closes over the holiday — check the exact days before you plan shopping.
