Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February and end on 8 March, followed by the three-day Eid al-Fitr holiday (Ramazan Bayramı) from 9 to 11 March, according to the calendar of Türkiye's Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). The dates follow the lunar calendar and may shift by a day.

Where to stay

In recent years Fatih Municipality has marked Ramadan on Sultanahmet Square with communal iftar tables and the traditional cannon shot at sunset, and Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Süleymaniye are at their most atmospheric after dark. Hotel Marius is about 10 minutes on foot from Sultanahmet Square. Sights and most restaurants stay open during Ramadan; mosques close to visitors at prayer times, and the evening prayer draws big crowds. Over Eid, Turkish families travel too — book early.
