Istanbul sees in 2027 on the night of Thursday 31 December 2026. At midnight fireworks go up over the Bosphorus, and the waterfronts at Ortaköy, Karaköy and Üsküdar fill with people hours before; many restaurants and Bosphorus boats hold ticketed New Year dinners.

Where to stay

In recent years the city has kept the metro lines and Marmaray running through the night on New Year's Eve — check İBB's announcement for 2026 nearer the date. From Sirkeci that makes a late return easy: Marmaray crosses to Üsküdar in about four minutes. Road closures and crowds make taxis slow that night, so plan to walk or take the train.
